Self-support: Master’s degree applicants shall be a bachelor’s degree holder, under 40 years old.
4. Applicants for English-taught programs and whose native language is not English need to provide score report of English language proficiency test (a score above IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL Internet-based 80 or equivalent), or a certificate from former university proving that the previous degree is taught in English, or a certificate indicating the applicants have studied in an English-speaking country for more than one year.

Program Description
Program Overview
This two-year program aims to prepare students for careers in the fields of software engineering, including requirement analysis and software design, software development and integration, the quality evaluation of software systems, software systems maintenance, software project management etc. It is expected that graduates will become well trained multi-disciplinary application software engineering professionals, and they may have the ability to seek their professional career in the global software industry.
- On completion of a Master of Software Engineering, the graduates are expected to have the following knowledge and specialized skills:
- Having knowledge in R&D of software systems;
- Being capable of carrying out tasks in analysis, design, implementation, testing and evaluating, and maintenance of complex software systems;
- Applying software engineering methodologies and standards to practice, and taking the standards as the basis of communication and cooperation in a team;
- Having ability to manage software engineering projects and evaluate quality of software systems.

Degree Awarded：
Degree candidates, who have completed all the required courses, obtained 25 credits and passed the thesis defense, will be awarded with Master of Engineering degree and a graduation diploma issued by Ministry of Education, China.

Applicants shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
*2. Financial statement or bank statement
The available balance should be no less than 40, 000RMB (The minimum amount of financial proof for full scholarship applicants may be appropriately lowered).
*3. Curriculum vitae
The applicants shall submit curriculum vitae introducing your personal information, education background, work experience, research work, publications, honors, and other information, which could facilitate your application.
4. Provisional Acceptance Letter from Supervisor of CQU (if available, not compulsory).

For Arts programs, applicants must have related academic background and are required to submit the portfolio (such as paintings, story scripts, short movies, etc.).
*6. Foreigner Physical Examination Form
Within a valid period of six months. The form shall be filled by the physician in Chinese or English. The physical examinations must cover all the items listed in the form with a suggestion filled by the doctor. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Attachments of examination results (Laboratory exam report, Electrocardiograph and Chest X-ray report) shall also be uploaded. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months. Applicants in China can take the physical examination at the international travel health care center.

For applicants who are currently studying or working in an institution, a Certificate of Enrollment or Employment issued by the institution is required.

The passport must remain valid until after September 2025. For applicants who are already in China, a photocopy of Visa or Residence Permit with entry customs stamps should be provided as well.

Transcript in languages other than Chinese or English should be translated into Chinese or English and be certified by notarization.
*12. Notarized Highest Degree Certificate
Applicants shall submit bachelor’s graduation certificate and degree diploma. Prospective diploma recipients shall submit a certificate of expected graduation issued by the university that will issue the diploma, and bring the official degree diploma for registration if admitted.
*13. Two academic recommendation letters
In English or Chinese from professors or associate professors introducing the applicant’s academic/research background, comprehensive abilities and evaluation of future growth etc. The referee’s signature and contact information (academic title, email address or phone number) are necessary, and the date of issue should not be earlier than September, 2024.
*14. Study plan or research proposal
No less than 1000 words, stating your basic personal information, hobbies and expertise, study motivation, past academic background and a study plan or research proposal in Chongqing University.
